BACK ON TRACK
I didn't know whether to expect my A game or B game, so I didn't play last night, nor this morning. I fired it back up this afternoon when both kids went to a neighbor's house. Lucky for me, I was on my A game, and I did quite well until my mom called and ended the festivities.
My best rake went thusly:
QQ in middle position. I raised to $5 and found several callers.
Flop: 8TJ, the last two being hearts.
I saw the inherent danger and bet out $15, finding one caller. This guy is a bit of a scrub, so I figured it to be a bad call.
I anticipated the turn, chanting "no queen, no queen" so I wouldn't lose to the scrub's 9. Turn: T.
I figured since I got only one call on the flop, the odds suggest that the scrub holds a J or perhaps a 9. I figured I was safe and didn't want to offer a free card, so I bet out $25. He called.
I discontinued my chant, so the river decided to offer me the perfect card: the Q of hearts. Now I've got the nut boat, and scrub may have made his straight or flush. I bet out $50 and he called. I never did see his cards, but I figure by calling, he had the straight, while fearing the flush.
