I was off today and actually got some things accomplished before I started playing at around 4pm. Today was the day I decided to move up to $2-4 exclusively after playing 6 weeks of $1-2 and a little $2-4.
A year ago I would move around from 1-2 to 2-4 to 3-6 and they were vastly different games. This time I decided that I would master a level before moving on. I probably could have moved up sooner, but I was taking swings at $1-2 and wanted to conquer it before moving on.
My favorite hand of the day was holding Q9s and flopping the four flush to a 5 man table that capped the flop and turn. I got my flush on the river and took out about $140. I did that sort of thing sporadically today. I would get bled for about $40 and then come up with a hand that would give it back to me.
The weekend crowds are pretty loose and I've been able to play a lot more drawing hands. I accidentally pre-flop raised with T4 and I flopped QT4 and bet it out. They folded on the river much to my dismay. That would have been great advertising.
The bad beats weren't as bad, but my pocket Kings were defeated more than once. I've learned that with a lot of pre-flop callers, hands like 75s aren't bad. The flop immediately tells you whether you can go on and if you hit, no one sees it.
I received AA two hands in a row tonight which was a first. I was a big winner on the day, despite my misgivings on moving up a level.
