GT5

PokerRoom is now offering satellites into its next $1000 tournament. I jumped on the bandwagon and paid $100 for a shot at a ticket. There were 13 runners and 1st paid $1000; 2nd paid $210; and 3rd paid $90.

Twice I paid off KK, as I didn't give these players the credit that was due them. They were good and crafty. Both times, I had my suspicions, but paid them off anyways. Then I needed to get lucky a couple of times to get back into it. Towards the end, it was three-handed, and this situation arose:

Player A) 25% chips, trying to double up with repetitive all-ins.
Player B) 30% chips, solid.
Player C) 45% chips, me.

A went all in; B called; C has AQ. When my cards were dealt, I planned on getting all in if necessary. When A pushed, I was calling for sure. When B pushed, I backed off and decided to fold and watch the action.

I know I shouldn't be results oriented, but I would have won the hand, pairing my Q. I was right that it was not the best hand: A had 88; B had AJ. The pair held up and player B was soon out. Yet, had I called, I would have won the grand. As it turned out, I finished 2nd when my trip fours 54 lost to T4.
