INTER POKER

I haven't played poker for more than two weeks, while I've instead taken advantage of the fact that my writer's block has left me. I've been on a blog roll over at Junto Boys and even reviewed 3 books yesterday, a first since January. Even though it does not make me a dime, doing the work somehow frees my mind for other things.

I got an email this week from InterPoker, a site I tried last spring when I was into my Omaha phase. I lost my password months ago and they weren't very helpful so I abandoned the ten or fifteen dollars that was sitting in the account. Now InterPoker wants me back enough that they offer me $20 to play just one hand. So I call them and fix the password thing and decide to play a little $.50 NL Holdem which after the first hand gives me like $36. I keep playing and soon go on one of those streaks where everything is right. I hit a couple of flushes and three sets in an hour.

In one particular hand I ran into the guy you beg to get a hand against, the dude who tries to chase you out by going all-in and you usually have to fold even when you're in the lead. This time I raised with QQ and he called. The flop came AQ6. I bet about 3/4 of the pot and the dumbass went all-in $50 with KJ. He didn't even have a flush draw. It's those kind of players that make you want to go pro. Regretfully, they are never abundant enough, although their existence is like little mini Christmas mornings. Or it's like hunting all winter and being happy to see a deer or two.

The only bad beat came this morning. I held 44 and the flop came 49K with two clubs. I bet and got one caller. The turn was a offsuit 6 and I bet again and the guy went all-in against me $40. He turned over 96 clubs to have two pair and a flush draw. He really fell into my trap, as I was a 70-30 favorite, but he sucked out a 6 on the river to fullboat me.
