LOSING TO ACE/RAG
I played the $100 Rebuy at Stars today, immediately rebuying to $3k. I think I peaked at $3250. I never got much to play and I prefer not to be going all-in every other hand, hoping to get lucky. I'd rather play poker than roulette while keeping my ROI potential high. I got nothing but blanks after round one and was whittled down to $2325 at the break. I chose to skip the add-on, since it wouldn't have even brought me up to average. I just figured I would look to double up or bust out on my first quality hand.
So, on the first or second deal after the break, I got AQ and I was ready to go with it. There was a $150 call from first position, then it folded around to me. I went all-in for $2325. I didn't care if he called or not with his middle pair or possible king. Then out of nowhere, the button goes all-in over the top of me. First position folds and button shows A7 off. What the heck? An hour into a $100 Rebuy and I see this manuever? I was cracking up. He must have put me on A6. So, I doubled up to $4875.
Moments later, I got AK in second position. I limped for $150 and this same joker came over me to $750. I was in the market for a coin flip, so I came back all-in, which he quickly called...with A9. Again, I'm cracking up - he must have had me on J9 there. My face was frozen in mid-cackle when he spiked a nine on the river to unjustly knock me down to $1175. The next hand, I was UTG, so I took my KJs all-in. Now, I'm just looking to get lucky and double up. From fourth position, this same guy calls, he calls, not raises, but calls with A8d - flops the nut flush and sends me packing.
