$100 PL - My favorite Game
Though I've worked my $100 up to over $500 several times and as much as $800 once, I will usually leave the table when I'm between $200 - $300, when a couple of players have more money than I do. The last time I had $500 I played KQ and flopped QQT and ran into another guy with a big stack that had TT. You can only imagine the agony.
Anyway, I was creeping toward $200 yesterday when I was handed 99 in mid position. I called the $2 but there was a raise to $6 behind me and I called that as did 4 others.
The flop came: 79J rainbow
Two checks and the shortstack bets $25 of his 30 odd remaining. I call and the guy behind me raises to $50. The better is all-in and I call. What does the raiser have? I already put the original bettor on a pair of jacks, probably AJ. The raiser couldn't have a set. I'm thinking he has T8 and thus a straight.
The turn in a 2
I'm thinking I don't have the best hand, but I can't fold it either so I check. He bets over $100 and puts me all-in.
The river is a K.
The raiser turns over J9 for two pair and I rake $396.
I left at the blind with a smile still wide across my mug.
