ALWAYS FOLD KQ IF YOU MISS THE FLOP

I had been playing $5-10 NL for hours, trying to get my head straight after a tough week at the tables, in anticipation of the Monte Carlo tournament next week. I had been playing very well, but was stuck, having bought in for $500. I had lost once with AA and twice with KK, though in each instance, I made a good laydown at the river. My instincts were working all day and even my folds were drawing comments from the table.

This is the hand that got me back to even:

Seat 1: att591 ($303 in chips)
Seat 2: PhilIvey538 ($183 in chips)

I raised preflop to get heads up, so that I could bet into an ugly flop. The ugly flop came, which tripped me up, so I bet strong as if I was bullying. I hoped he had AJ or so, and wouldn't be intimidated. Even though he didn't believe me, he should never have called with KQ, because he would be losing to A6. Lucky for me he caught two runners that looked good to him. Once he called the turn, I knew he had a queen, so at the river, I played bully again and bet $200 into him, which he called without blinking. It's hands like this, once every few hours, that makes all the patience pay off.
