OH, THE HUMANITY!
I've been bouncing around this week from PokerRoom to PartyPoker to PokerStars. I was down a couple of hundred on PokerStars and today is my cash out day, so I was hoping to get even on the week before I cut myself a check. I sat in on a $3-6 NL table, looking to procure a couple hundred of bucks. I sat for many hours, waiting for lightning to strike. I was down a couple of hundred from my $500 buy-in, and nothing much was happening for me. Finally, I limped in with AJ on the small blind, joining a handful of limpers ahead of me. I figured my kicker would be good if an ace fell on the flop. Sure enough, the flop comes AJ5 two diamonds. I lead out with a bet, figuring at least one of these jokers has an ace, and likely someone is playing a diamond draw. I get action when middle position guy puts a raise on me. I am absolutely certain he has A5 and I am about to make some good money. He would not have raised with a diamond draw, and he would have smooth called a set of fives and raised preflop with jacks, so there is really no question what his hand is. I put in a reraise and he played right back at me until I was all in with my $300 or so. The turn was the five of diamonds, the ultimate death card. I knew I was beat. Even on the off chance he was playing diamonds, I was beat, and the A5 just filled up. He showed A5 just as I expected, and I visited the cashier, resigned to my losing week.
