MULTI TABLE
I like playing in multi table tourneys at Poker Room because the chip stacks are 1500 and you can usually get a decent though not huge amount of people in each contest. I prefer 200-400. I tend to play sattelites mostly. I particularly like the $11 tourneys that qualify into the Grand Prix every week. I don't tend to like $5 or $10 tourneys (unless they're sattelites) because the prize money doesn't seem worth the time spent. I use to like the $20 guaranteed each night, but I don't like the rebuy structure. I'm a ring game guy and I keep telling myself that I should play more tournaments, Getting to the WPT Stage 3 cheaply a few weeks ago was encouraging and yet I've done nothing to try and follow it up. Once I'm in the new house I need to concentrate on my tourney play and make 2006 a tourney year.
It was the first week in some time that I played enough poker to qualify for the $6,000 freeroll. My 6th place finish with a field of over 800 last spring was my highest percentile in tournaments. I registered yesterday morning, but then Trish reminded me that we needed to buy appliances for the new house. While I was out comparing stainless steel refrigerators, I was posting and folding in cyberspace. What's funny is that despite playing not a single hand, I finished in the top third of the field, and half of those players made the money. I guess it was a lesson in not playing too many hands. Let the other guys knock it around while you wait for the best of it.
