ENTER NOVEMBER

Okay, this is still a poker blog and now I will prove it. For the first time in three weeks I have profit to announce. I actually made money last month but it still felt like a crummy month. I will detail October in my next post but tonight I am celebrating.

I began this month 0-4 with three early exits so today I decided to play some cash games. Being a lummox, I only got around to playing for about half an hour, but in that 30 minutes I won $400 and squashed a kitchen fire. Then I ate pizza and watched HARD CANDY. The film held my attention through the first two acts but the third act was extremely weak. Basically, a 14-yr-old girl meets a 30-something in a chatroom and agrees to meet him. She flirts and they end up back at his house. It turns out she is a sociopath and he spends most of the movie tied up. There was a very riveting extended sequence in which she castrates him which forced me to leave the room for a short time - I don't like seeing anyone's boys at risk. The film was well directed and I really liked the lead actor but it lost me in the third act and because of that I can't wholly recommend it even though it is mostly enjoyable. The girl was just a bit too over the top nutso though the guy was well portrayed as a regular guy with a weakness. If not an all-time great, at least it was a profitable film for me.

Tonight I entered a $100 at PokerStars and I nearly doubled up early on with 66 on an AA6 flop. Turns out he had JJ so I was lucky to get as much as I did out of him. I kept betting, hoping he would push all in with AK but he was content to call my bets. Then I lost nearly everythng when a couple of rags flushed on the river after trying to steal against my AJ. I got down to $310 and I just started gambling. I was winning the gambles and soon I was up past $3k. The rollercoaster continued, knocking me back down under $500 but the gambles paid off again and I stayed alive. I played great and when I was at risk I kept winning. The only time I lost a big pot is when I lost with AA against TT. I made the money and ultimately made the final table. At the FT, I lost a flip with 55 v AK which put me at risk of busting in 8th place. I managed to make it all the way to 4th before my luck ran out and I took home $2515. A new month and I've rediscovered my game. Let's hope it lasts this time.
