I"M BAAACK
This game is so darn streaky! After a great November, I began December 0-22 in MTT action before making three final tables yesterday. The first one was only a two-table satellite but I'll count it. Then last night I went boom like the dynamite and won almost ten grand. I had begun this month about $3500 in the hole, then I got hot in the cash games and erased over two grand of red which had me thinking I might yet salvage this month. I knew I was running good when I made $175 yesterday playing HORSE at Full Tilt but that paled next to my good fortune in the evening tournaments.
I funneled $4k into my Bodog account since they were promising a no-strings 10% bonus which instantly gave me $400 in my cash account. I am going to try to play more events there but I do find their interface a bit challenging so I may not want to multitable so much at first. I entered a $50 Bodog, $75 Tilt, and $50 Rebuy Stars in which I invested $150 as usual. I told Marci that I was going to play stupid-free poker and my goal was to cash in two of the three.
I tripled up early at Bodog and I thought for sure that would be one of my cashes but instead it became a roller coaster ride where my big hands held up but my big draws never came through. I wound up busting out of that one about an hour in. Nothing much was happening at Tilt until I made an all-in call to pick off a huge bluff. I got to the money but was bleeding away until two hands in quick sucession made me the overall chip leader. I played really well and went into heads-up action with nearly a 3:1 lead but I was a bit distracted by the Stars game which was winnowing itself down to the final table. I didn't have the concentration to play nuanced poker at Tilt and I wound up pushing a marginal situation and gave up the chip lead. Not long after, I was out in second place. Not winning cost me two grand but I still made near four.
I was determined to play great poker at Stars because I feel those tournaments are more of a proving ground and besides my moniker is Dude Seeger and I hate when I make stupid moves with that as my calling card. When it was down to four, there was an epic battle. I was getting no cards and often when I raised the blinds, somebody would come back all in and I would fold. I went from chip leader to short stack and I became the guy pushing in. Finally we lost a player and got three-way. I built myself back up to chip leader but when we decided to deal, I was pretty much even with another player and we were both about $75k behind the other. We got support involved and split the money $6400/5900/5900. I hope I can carry this streak through the weekend.
